A recent employment tribunal caught my attention last month. A complaint of maternity discrimination against Manchester-based Bright HR has been upheld by an employment tribunal after a saleswoman claimed that her request to return to her role after having a baby was greeted with derision.
Employers can avoid maternity discrimination by establishing clear policies, understanding and fulfilling their legal responsibilities, training managers, supporting pregnant employees, and promoting an inclusive workplace culture.
This month's newsletter focuses on maternity discrimination and employers legal responsibilities. I’ve been looking at where they haven’t complied and the risks of doing so and common pitfalls that can be avoided.
As well as answering the top questions I get on maternity.
